Moreton Hospitality is excited to announce a transformative renovation of The Beach Hotel, Stradbroke Island, set to commence on 1st April 2025 (with the final day of trade being the 29th March 2025). Guided by the expert vision of KP Architects and built by the skilled team at Aizer Building Solutions, the renovations promise to enhance the iconic venue’s role as a beloved community hub, with a reopening planned for late 2025.

Our aim is simply to enhance these strong foundations, refreshing the space and re-establishing it as the community hub —both for locals and visitors alike. We’re excited to bring this vision to life and make The Beach Hotel a place that continues to celebrate Stradbroke Island’s unique character for generations to come.”
A New Chapter for The Beach Hotel
The upcoming refurbishments reflect a commitment to creating a space that is welcoming for families, well-suited for events, and deeply integrated with the island’s natural beauty. Highlights of the renovation include:
- Bar, Bistro, and Deck Improvements: Guests can look forward to a refreshed interior that maintains the venue’s laid-back charm while incorporating modern amenities. A large operable roofing system will be installed over the ground-level deck, ensuring that guests can enjoy the stunning views rain, hail, or shine.
- Function space: An extended outdoor deck will be added to the upstairs function space, offering breathtaking views of Cylinder Beach. This versatile area will serve as a communal pub space when not booked for private events.
- Big LED Screens: Sports fans can catch all the action live and loud on brand-new big screens installed throughout the venue. The facilities are also designed to host twilight movie nights under the stars, offering a unique and immersive outdoor cinema experience.
- Gaming Room: A newly revitalized VIP Gaming Lounge will take the place of the current gaming area.
- Outdoor Stage – A dedicated stage and AV sound system has been incorporated into the design to harness and support the local events and music scene.
Mr. Hazell said, “The venue is due for essential service upgrades. The renovation addresses this, as well as enhancing operational efficiency and delivering an improved experience for our customers. We are especially excited about weatherproofing the deck, which will ensure year-round comfort and usability for our guests.”
Improved Accessibility
Recognising the challenges of transportation on the island, the new courtesy bus service will run from Dunwich directly to the pub, supporting our functions and group bookings by providing a convenient transport option for event guests and large group gatherings.

By enhancing the hotel’s facilities and creating new attractions, including the expanded outdoor areas and family-friendly features, the venue will better service island visitors, especially during peak seasons. Accommodation Updates
While the hotel accommodation will receive a refresh during this period, the luxury apartments will remain open and available for bookings, ensuring that visitors can continue to enjoy Stradbroke Island’s stunning coastline.
Bottle Shops
The three bottle shops associated with The Beach Hotel will remain fully operational throughout the renovations, ensuring convenient access for customers. This includes the drive-thru bottle shop located in the hotel basement, as well as two detached bottle shops located at Dunwich and Point Lookout.
Supporting Staff and the Community
Moreton Hospitality is dedicated to supporting its team during this period. Key staff will be reassigned to roles within the company’s other venues where possible. However, there will be some affected team members, who will be encouraged to rejoin the team when the venue reopens. With the group’s hospitality ventures expanding, some staff will be relocated to the island bottle shops or venues located on the Gold Coast, including The Beach Hotel Broadbeach and Cora Restaurant and Bar. We will continue to support the community during this phase, and we are working on a temporary pop-up bar solution. However, we do encourage the community to visit our neighbouring businesses and support the local surf club, bowls club, brewery and everyone in between.
